If you’re ever at Bristol Harbour and see a rabble of people following a pirate waving the Jolly Roger flag, don’t be scared – you’ve just come across one of Bristol’s more rambunctious attractions: the famous pirate walks. Led by Pirate Pete, these adventures are a really fun way to learn about Bristol’s dark side and a brilliant chance to dress up too!
I’ve seen hen parties having a fab time, and huge groups of school children getting into the spirit of things by shouting “Ooh-arrrr” at the top of their lungs, so it really does appeal to all walks of life!
Every walk is different, and you may find yourself learning about the slave trade as you cross Pero’s Bridge, or about Blackbeard’s caves as you pass the Ostrich Pub. The distance is less than a mile, and it only costs £6 for adults and £4.50 for children, so it’s well worth investigating if you’re in the area.
