I chose to use Great Lake Safari for my gorilla trekking expedition because they were highly recommended in the Lonely Planet guide book. The knowledgeable and expert staff developed a package that satisfied all of my requests. In fact, they exceeded my expectations from beginning to end. My guide, Abdul, made it his personal mission to insure that I had a memorable experience. I enjoyed our journey from Kampala to Bwindi almost as much as the gorilla trekking. He would stop so I could take photos and provided me with the most amazing facts and information about Uganda. I was traveling solo and never once felt unsafe. In fact, I felt safer in Uganda than walking the streets of N.Y.! I so enjoyed my experience trekking to see the gorillas with Great Lake Safaris, I decided to stay at their Primate Lodge in Kibale National Forest. This lodge was amazing! And, it is located IN the forest. The accommodations were absolutely lovely and so comfortable. The food was best I had in any other country in Africa and the staff go out of their way to please their guests. The manager of the Primate Lodge arranged for a staff member to take me on a hike to the lodge’s tree house where we were fortunate to witness the rare jungle elephants! I had been on so many trekking expeditions where the guide will tell you about these beautiful animals, but you never see them. Here they were right at the Primate Lodge! Thank you Great Lakes Safari for providing me with memories I will cherish for a lifetime!
