Under Seventeen Car Club By: Paul On: 21/04/2009 Average Rating: YOUR RATING 0 Comments 635 Views Caption The Under 17 Car Club teaches young people to drive safely and to a standard far in excess of the normal driving test. Skid pan training is an essential element of their training, as we believe they should be able to handle extreme circumstances in an emergency. We believe that helps to save lives. That's also why every teenager takes a first aid course and learns motorway driving skills. We use Drive-Tech's skid pan several times a year and we are always pleased with the results. And all our members come away with big grins on their faces. The club achieves a rare trick: teaching something serious but at the same time giving young people a huge amount of fun. The skid pan is a really useful part of that process. Imagine the "playground cool" on a Monday morning for people too young to hold a driving licence, who have successfully taken a car sideways in a controlled slide, thereby avoiding an accident. One day the cone on a skid pan will be a real person stepping off a kerb on a freezing December morning, and slipping on ice in front of a car. And the lessons learned at Castle Combe could be the difference between living and dying. Images Total Images: 1
