THOUGHTS OF AN EARLY PIONEE By: john On: 17/07/2009 Average Rating: YOUR RATING 0 Comments 586 Views Caption My wife Judi and I were presenters with Bristol Hospital Radio at a time when discussions were being held to bring the ship back to her home in Bristol.A local printer named Eric Gadd was instrumental in getting local names together, amonst whom was the Millionaire Jack Hayward.Because of hostility and jealousy in a few influencial business and political figures, Eric Gadd was eventually eased out. It was not a nice experience to witness. A little man (not in statue and certainly not in personality, Eric was mortified and never recovered from being ignored and overstepped.I think they even excluded him from the festivities during the official welcome back. A very sad story of THE BIG BOYS sinking the SMALL LOCAL BOY .There are many Bristolians who will remember dear old Eric with fondness and deep respect. Whenever we drive along the access road into Bristol opposite the S S Great Britain. I always waive and think of a true gentle man who also did much money raising for the Bristol Hospital Broadcasting Service and the many other local charities.. Images No Image Available
