On 15th July, myself and Anne (on the right) greatly enjoyed a very informative and entertaining presentation given by Monty Halls. The former Royal marine, diver, marine biologist, expedition leader, etc... last year spent 6 months living as a crofter at Applecross on the west coast of Scotland, along with his constant canine companion Reuben.
He spoke engageingly of his bothy transformation, keeping pigs, sheep and chickens, growing vegetables, the friendships he developed with the locals, the wonderful plethora of wildlife, the stark contrast with his urban life, and not least, the amusing antics of Reuben (in particular, his penchent for rescuing seals!)
Afterwards, there was a chance to meet Monty while he signed copies of his book to accompany the bbc tv series 'Great Escape' - and a jolly inspirational read it is too!

Monty Halls Talk

I would like to add to Steph's review of our visit how wonderful the ship looks after all the work that has taken place since she came home in 1970. The city is lucky to have her and she deserves as much support as we can all give her!
